Fix Epic Games Error AS-3 No Connection To Service (2025)

Updated: 12/1/2025

You open the Epic Games Launcher ready to play Fortnite or another game, but instead of your library you get Error AS-3 or a message that the launcher cannot connect to the Epic Online Service. Other apps might still be online, which makes the error confusing. This usually points to a problem with cached launcher data, DNS or SSL routing, or local firewall rules blocking Epic’s services.

Method 1: Clear Epic Games Webcache And Temporary Launcher Data

The Epic Games Launcher uses an embedded browser and local cache folders to display your account and store. If these become corrupted after an update or crash, the client can no longer talk to Epic’s backend reliably and shows Error AS-3 on startup.

Step 1: Close Epic Games Launcher Completely

Click the X in the top right of the launcher, then check the system tray near your clock, right click the Epic icon and choose Exit. Open Task Manager and make sure no Epic processes like EpicGamesLauncher.exe remain running.

Step 2: Delete The Webcache Folders

Press Windows key + R, type %localappdata%, and press Enter. Open the EpicGamesLauncher folder, then the Saved folder, and delete any webcache, webcache_4147, or similarly named cache folders you see.

Step 3: Restart The Launcher And Sign In Again

Launch Epic Games Launcher from the Start menu, wait while it rebuilds the cache, and log in with your Epic account. A fresh set of web data often restores the store and library view without Error AS-3 reappearing.

Method 2: Repair Network, DNS, And SSL Path To Epic Services

Restart your PC so the new network settings fully apply, then power cycle your router by unplugging it for about 20 seconds and plugging it back in. When your internet is back, open Epic Games Launcher and check whether Error AS-3 is gone.

Warning: If you are on a work or campus network, talk to IT before changing DNS or proxy settings, as they may be controlled by policy.

Method 3: Allow Epic Through Firewall And Check Hosts File

Press Windows key + R, type notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, and press Enter. In Notepad, look for any lines that mention epicgames.com or unrealengine.com. If you see suspicious redirects, comment them out by adding # at the beginning of each line, then save and close the file.
